Preparing for Sri Lanka

Planning our trips is always very exiting, the holiday fun feeling starts while scouting locations, hotels and places to visit. No big surprise that TripAdvisor, Skyscanner, Booking.com, Trivago, Agoda,  Lonely Planet, … are just some of my favourite websites. My better half is the opposite, he loves to visit beautiful places together with me, preferably with some diving involved, but he doesn’t feel the need to read all those hotel reviews, look at the hotel pictures, …  Together, we keep each other in balance!

After some research, we defined our “must-see” places and “must-do” experiences. On our list some of the more traditional places to visit such as Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, the tea trails in Nuwara Eliya, Horton Plains, … but also experiences such as a full day safari in Yala, a cooking workshop, sleeping in a jungle chalet and a few days at the end of the Sri Lanka part to relax on the beach with scuba diving for Steven. The experts of Connections, worked out this tour for us.

For our trip to Sri Lanka, we are flying from Düsseldorf International Airport to Colombo with Emirates. The first flight of our trip, from Düsseldorf to Dubai, will be our first encounter with the enormous twin-deck Airbus A380-800. Unfortunately no Private Suites and Shower Spas in First Class or flat-bed seats in Business Class for us, but still very exiting to travel in Economy with this double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner with wifi on board. #whoopwhoop
